Mosquito Problem

Mosquito Control - Pest Control

Mosquitoes are an inevitable part of the summer season. They lay hundreds of eggs in a short amount of time and live off of human blood. They use standing water found anywhere around your home or business and use it to lay their eggs. While mosquitoes are mostly just an annoyance, they can potentially carry serious diseases like the West Nile virus, the Yellow Fever, and the Zika virus.

  • How do I prevent mosquitoes from swarming my home, office, or yard?

Mosquitoes need standing water to lay their eggs. The first most basic step to eliminating as many mosquitoes as possible is to get rid of all standing water. Some examples are making sure pools and hot tubs are properly chlorinated and their covers do not have pooling water on them, being careful not to over water your plants or yard, making sure gutters drain properly, and getting rid of any small container, pot or holder that can potentially collect water. The other important step to eliminating the mosquito problem in your yard is to have a pest control company come and spray a special chemical spray that infects the mosquitoes and keeps them from breeding.

  • Are mosquitoes dangerous?

Mosquitoes are quite a harmless flying bug, unless they are disease bearing. Some of the serious diseases they carry are the West Nile virus, the Yellow Fever,  the Zika virus, and even malaria. Thankfully malaria born by mosquitoes is completely eradicated from the USA.

  • How long do mosquitoes live?

The average lifespan of a mosquito is not more than two months. Many mosquitoes only live as long as seven days.

  • How many times can a mosquito bite?

A mosquito does not have a limit to how many times it can bite or sting a human. The human blood helps to stimulate the mosquito to lay her eggs.
